      Adopt a Clitoris

USA-based Clitoraid, a non-profit organization launched by the spiritual leader Rael, announced today that it will not only sponsor a number of events around the world for Feb. 6, the United Nations-designated worldwide "Zero Tolerance Day" for the practice of female genital mutilation (FGM) but will also promote the idea of going one step further by declaring the day "Healing Day."

"More than 130 million women in the world have been genitally mutilated," said Nadine Gary, spokesperson for Clitoraid. "To prevent this barbaric tradition from happening ever again is definitely important, but we must also think of all the women who had a sexual organ removed and still suffer from that now, both physically and psychologically. It's possible today to repair the damage done by the mutilation and restore these victims' dignity and sense of physical pleasure! Laws exist to punish those who still dare to cut children again, so let's start devoting more effort toward helping the victims and giving them their lives back!"

Gary said that since 2006, Clitoraid has been able to train several doctors and assist in providing clitoral repair surgery for many women in France and the United States."All of our patients have reported improvements after the surgery, and
about 60 percent of them have experienced orgasm -- something they thought would never happen for them," she explained. "We're now halfway through the construction of our 'Pleasure Hospital' in Bobo Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, where we will enable local women and women of West Africa to have the procedure for free. This is our main goal, since too many women cannot afford this surgery. Without our help, it would cost several years of their wages for them to have it, so they are hoping and waiting for us."

Clitoraid officials have long maintained that the best way to stop the practice of FGM is to show the old women who still practice it in the dark that it's a waste of time."With the new surgery available, the victims will be repaired anyway," Gary explained."Because we have no tolerance for debilitating customs, we not only denounce them but act to repair the damage, heal the wounds made by such stupid traditions and show the world that science is the only option to remove darkness," commented Brigitte Boisselier, PhD, head of Clitoraid and spokesperson of the Raelian Movement. "This is one of the main teachings of my spiritual leader Rael. It's of no use to cry when we see sad events happening. Instead, we have to laugh about them and get the energy to make repairs if possible. It is possible to heal 130 million female FGM victims who suffer tremendously today, so we deeply hope that many people will help us heal the world by joining our 'Adopt a Clitoris' Program."
